Sphera Franchise Group, the largest group in the food service industry in Romania, opens the first KFC restaurant in Hunedoara, a Drive-Thru unit. Sphera’s expansion strategy aims to cover as many relevant areas as possible in the country, and Hunedoara county stands out due to its central positioning, high tourist potential and status as a transit area. KFC also operates a restaurant in the county, in Deva.
“We are constantly looking at areas where we can expand the KFC network, and after careful analysis of the local market in terms of population, purchasing power and high-traffic location, the decision to add this new city to our map was a natural one. Also, the Drive-Thru format offers customers accessibility, speed in purchasing and quick solutions to dine”, declares Marian Gogu, General Manager KFC Romania.
The new unit entailed an investment of approximately 1 million euro, following the inaugurations in Sibiu and Pitesti, which totaled 1.5 million euro. By the end of this year, the Group’s expansion plan aims to open three more restaurants, as well as modernize and digitize certain existing units.
KFC Hunedoara Drive-Thru is situated on Boulevard Traian No. 5 and operates daily between 09:00 and 23:45. With a total area of 340 sqm, the unit has a capacity of 96 seats, of which 52 inside and 44 on the terrace.
The restaurant is set up according to the latest international standards of design and equipment, offering consumers various ordering options to enhance their experience and reduce congestion during peak hours. Thus, customers can place orders at the counter, at the digital self-ordering kiosks, on the dedicated Drive-Thru line, through online ordering platforms or they can use the Click&Collect service available in the KFC Romania app.
In the 27 years of activity on the local market, KFC has become a brand loved by consumers from all corners of the country, currently having 105 restaurants in over 40 cities. The 30 Drive-Thru units and 75 located in commercial centers or in areas with intense traffic within cities, provide jobs for over 3,500 people, to which the 50 new employees in Hunedoara are added. They benefit from a net salary of over 3,100 lei starting from the third month of collaboration, which includes the basic salary, meal vouchers and various bonuses, according to KFC’s remuneration policy. In addition, KFC stands out as an employer of choice not only by creating jobs but also by promoting the professional and personal development of its employees for successful careers.
